Workshop location: The Makery, Bath: The Drawing Room

In this workshop, you’ll learn to cover a traditional lampshade: From talking about the design and pattern, to then making your shade by lining, stretching and securing your fabric in place, then finishing it off with trimming. We will supply you with a 12" scalloped edge empire lampshade frame to cover.

Some machine and hand sewing are required.

You’ll need to bring:
- 1 metre of fabric (Nothing too heavy/textured or flimsy/delicate please; patchwork cotton and linen work well). The fabric will be used on the bias, so bear that in mind if you have a pattern. You may also want bring along some trimming; we have some neutral braid, but not a huge selection.
- Please also bring a large plastic bag to take your lampshade home in.

You may not finish the trimming on the day, but we will ensure you leave with the knowledge to finish off at home.

"The class was fun and I was left feeling proud of the finished product. Now always on the look-out for old lampshades to refashion with quirky fabric and trims!" Vicky
