Be inspired with free machine embroidery

Posted on May 06, 2014 by The Makery | 1 comment

Our free machine embroidery workshops are so popular and the wonderful creations that appear after only a few hours practice never fail to amaze us. Sometimes it is called free motion embroidery.

We thought you might like to see the handiwork of one our lovely students this week as she took to the machine and created some beautiful pieces.

 // Fly birdy fly //

 // The back of the embroidery looks just as good as the front. Sometimes even better! //

// There was even time for a hare! //

The free machine embroidery workshops are brilliant for stitchers wanting to go that little bit further and use the sewing machine to be creative and draw on fabric. You can add some material to appliqué too.
You don't need to be able to draw well to be good at this and we would say the above examples are a little bit special so be please inspired by what can be achieved but be patient and remember practice makes perfect - don't expect master pieces on your first attempt!
When you come along to our workshop you will learn the techniques and get advice on what you need to do to your sewing machine when you get home. Just bring along some ideas about what you might like to create.

Have you tried free machine embroidery? Did you enjoy painting on fabric?

Tell us your experiences below.

See you at a class soon!

    I’m really isnipred by Izziyana Suhaimi’s work. Her choice of materials, visual language and technique are amazing! I recently started using strands of my own hair in my fiber art work, and I’m excited about exploring embroidery and stitch technique further. Thanks for all the excellent posts such a wonderful blog!
